male Sumatran tiger pacing in his surroundings. Toronto Zoo, Toronto Zoo Photographs, Sumatran Tiger Photographs

Sumatran Tiger

The monkeys stand for honesty, Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They're dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! you gotta come and see
At the zoo.
- Simon and Garfunkel

Pacing back and forth a male Sumatran Tiger is about as happy as a person when separated from his young. Because of the tree cover, the low shutter speed and the overcast day I had to take a few stab at the shot before I got something I was both happy with and something that was in focus.

I have a thing for cats, especially big ol' wild cats. Something about the eyes, paws and general attitude they display. Maybe it's some kind of king-of-the-jungle syndrome.

I will be once again volunteering time and lens to the Burlington Rotary Clubs Ribfest during the Labor Day weekend. I have posted up an ongoing and growing gallery of images. Images aren't all terribly exciting but if you will be attending you can keep an eye on the events leading up to Canada's Largest Ribfest.
