Green Water Dragon

"Jealousy, that dragon which slays love under the pretense of keeping it alive" - Henry Ellis

This little fella is from Indonesia, an insectivore that can grow to almost three feet in length in the safety of captivity. Known as the Green Water Dragon or Chinese Water Dragon supposedly they are friendly and love hanging out by some greenery and water. Obviously I didn't catch the last flight out of Toronto to Indonesia, though the thought of not having cold toes for the next three months is nice. I snapped the shot at the Toronto Zoo over the summer. Yeah it's another archive day. Lately the pile of work doesn't want to get smaller so it's all I can do to even post up the archives.

please tell me why my lil' lizard is not green? He was not to much older than a hatchling at christmas, he had a bright green belly and 3-4 stripes. Now he is dark brown dry and scally! He has a wonderful pool one side of his home is hot and one side is cool... he gets crickets shake N baked in calcium stuff.. he gets kale (?) and other food... he gets misted daily... his lil' home gets cleaned fresh water everyday etc... He is very relaxed and comfortable being held...I just don't get it? We didn't think he was growing but when family showed up after not seeing him for a month they said he was huge as opposed to last time. Could he just be growing out of his old skin? Will he go bright again or is he sick? If you can help that's great if not that's OK too!

I have 2 Green water dragons i have a male and a female and i think that my female is having baby's. I was just wondering if you could help me find out if she is. She was the same size in the belly as the male but her's belly is a lot bigger then his now. She also has more gold yellow in under her front legs then him. So if you have any thing that can help me please e-mail.

Thank-you
Krista
