Twenty Eight Hundred
"A man's country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle; and patriotism is loyalty to that principle." - George William Curtis
We slipped south of the border to the United States on Sunday and arrived late last night. From Boston to Providence to New Haven to New York twenty eight hundred kilometers and countless mile markers later I finally slept on a good bed last night, my bed.
I'd like to thank all the U.S. drivers who kept their cool as I made last minute lane crossing, left turns and dodged potholes in NYC that could swallow a small car. The camera sparked a number of conversations with strangers and over the next few days I will be posting pictures from the trip.
Thanks to everyone who dropped a comment or a note over the past eight days and I will be responding in comments as soon as I can.
The above photograph was taken in Boston while watching people traffic flowing across the intersection. These American flags gently swayed over the entrance to Filenes Basement which is one of the oddest discount store approaches I have ever seen.
