fireworks over the city of Olomouc, Czech Republic

Olomouc Fireworks

"Anger is the only thing to put off until tomorrow" - Czech Proverb

I spent the majority of a day shooting Olomouc where I ran into people more than willing to share stories, history and even their homes. One kind middle aged woman invited me to her home to see her magnificent cross. She had a small shrine in what I would guess is a living room where she welcomed me to shoot photos while offering me every tasty kind of treat under the sun. It was pleasant to have such friendly experiences in a nation that is still emotionally and social scared by its past.

I was going to post the photograph of the cross and the woman until as I was making my way to go home I heard the echo of fireworks over the city. I quickly setup in a small ally, frantically dialing in ISO and f-stop to get a happy balance of 1.5-2 seconds of exposure needed for firework photos. Then I just kept shooting on remote while listening to the dull thud of the fireworks launching and counting off the seconds. I like this shot which is an uncommon thing for me to say. I got off about 20 exposures before it was all over.

I have been debating sharing my photo gallery, currently shared with family, with viewers of the blog. However I don't know how people feel about someone elses digital slide show of their vacation. Here sit through my fun while I bore you to death, I need to give it more of a mull over...

Yes, Please share your photo gallery. I live in the USA and know I will never get to visit Czech Republic. My grandparents came from over there. It would mean a lot to me.
Thanks.
You're very inspiring to me. I'm an artist/sculptor, but you've inspired me to get a Nikon D50. I am so excited to have a new medium to work in. It's a world all it's own.
Blessings

You didn't have a tripod but set the camera on a firm surface, triggering it by remote? Love the fireworks and how the street lights have almost produced star-effect fireworks of their own.
