Old Barn
"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return." - Unknown
Lots of abandoned barns and fields dot the local country side. They can range from intact structures to mere foundations in the middle of long overgrown fields. If these building could talk I wonder what stories they would tell.
This barn occupies a low valley just west of 6th line on the outskirts of the town of Acton.

That's got a strong sense of time and place and an Ontario anywhere sort of feel.

Ahhh abandoned places. My new passion. I love it. We are gonna have to go exploring together sometime soon. There are so many great places out there just waiting to be found.

I love the moodiness of this image. While driving the kids to a playdate the other day, I passed by a faded red barn that I've seen a million times before. You've inspired me to take my camera the next time I head that way.
Ontario is so rich with scenes like this. You captured this one wonderfully.

I used to do pen and ink drawings of old barns. Wisconsin has some great hex-barns that were great subjects. Super shot, Paul!

I am formerly a resident of Acton back in the 1970s and as a kid we used to go in the country all the time.
I always admired old barns .
I give old barns a new life now.
I build one of a kind log birdhouses and lawn ornaments from the old lumber.

I wouldn't down play those as just birdhouses John, those are serious feathered friend mansions.
That's some impressive work you've done with the reclaimed wood.
cheers,
P.
