Bruce Trail Lowville - part 2
"To shorten winter, borrow some money due in spring." - W.J. Vogel
...continued from part one Decided to stay on the south side of the river for the hike where a nice side trail provides a 3 km loop to an old abandoned concrete bridge running across the water. The bridge is a little out of place considering its surroundings, a thick concrete slab with steel supports is not what you'd expect find in a valley without the slightest hint of an old road. It has now been gated off but there was a time you could use it to get to the north side of the river and it was a fantastic resting point on long bike rides. We never could figure out what purpose the bridge served though as the north side is a marshland covered in ferns, shrubs and beautiful old growth trees. to be continued...
