...continued from part two
I assume this lower valley at one point provided some agriculture to the area as an old abandoned stone house stands silent watch a short walk from the waters edge. It must have been a sight at one point. The two story building erected from rocks dredged up from the river bed is a testament to people using what they had on hand and I can only imagine what it must have been like walking out of your front door and finding yourself nestled in a small valley with the sound of running water nearby. Yes it would be a dream house of mine just has to have high speed internet!
The return trip was made along the thick ice sheet that had formed over the river until we rejoined the main trail and headed back to the car 2 hours later as the clouds started rolling in...
