Today I want to thank 'Chatty B. Tawkin' for her more than generous nomination to the Photoblog section of the Bloggies. I'll show my ignorance by admitting that I have no idea what the url is to the bloggies or how to direct you there to nominate other worthy bloggers but I swear I've heard the name before. Either way two days and two nominations is very flattering. It also deflates my planned rant about the upcoming plethora of Hollywood awards, well, at least until I see if I win anything ;)

I photographed this fuzzy bloom over the summer while exploring the botanical gardens near Niagara Falls, Ontario. I don't know what species of plant this is. However the shot was setup so that the bloom was set against a shady dark background while the plant remained in the ambient light. I tweaked the D70's curve for high contrast to get as much black as possible. Still not sure if I like it.
