Scotch Block in the winter

"We cling to our own point of view, as though everything depended on it. Yet our opinions have no permanence; like autumn and winter, they gradually pass away." - Chuang Tzu (aka Chuang Chou)

Ever since we started selling the house I haven't had a chance to catch a good Sunday afternoon nap. If we aren't cleaning up for the open house, then we're running out the door to get out of the way of the real-estate agents. All you hear lately is 'I hate open houses' from one family member or another and a confused mess of ideas on how best to kill time for the few hours that we find our selves exiled.

Photographed near the Scotch Block Winery in Milton, what started out as a series of morning showers quickly turned into snow and a sudden freeze leaving the local country side covered in a thin layer of white and ice.

I can't say I disagree w/ "I hate open houses." And Sunday naps are the BEST!!

The photo is great; you continue to out do yourself. I don't know how you do it??

Love the contrast between the white snow and the deep blue sky, especially with the scattered clouds thrown in. Looks like a great day... not the ice on the roads though.

This is one of those "WOW" photos. I love the framing. The colors and clarity are so crisp and vivid. Wonderfully done!

Here is my response to the friend who directed me to your site:-

I feel I must really give deep thanks for leading me to a site such as this, Al.

This genius of a man, whose roots are apparently Czech, has not only mastered English to Shakespearean heights but is just as masterful with the camera like no other I know.

Now I can fully appreciate the best of poetic prose and equally poetic photography.

All the very best:

Bill

ps: My website is old and neglected-sorry.

It is difficult to capture a picture like this in the winter.
The lighting and detail are exceptional.
The composition is exquisit.
The midtones have come out wonderfully.
What a great photo!

Paul, all your photo's are exquisite, eternal, soft, delicate, purposeful. You have more than a "knack" for capturing the essence of a beautiful scene, person, place... a very Canadian trait if I may say so.

Now the questions is: what's the price you're asking for the house? Seriously, that's my dream house, she's such a dear, looks sweet, perfectly broken in...
